In his new role, O’Neill will report directlyh toCharles Berg, executive chairman of WellCare, and will continud to lead the company’s efforts to resolve pendingt investigations and litigation, a releasr said. WellCare (NYSE: WCG), a Tampa-based companyu that provides managed care servicee exclusivelyfor government-sponsored health care programs, recentlt announced settlements with the Justice Department and the , stemming from a scheme to defraud the progranm and the As part of the settlement with the U.S. Attorneyh for the Middle District of WellCare agreed to a corporate compliance andgovernancde program.
O’Neill will play a key role as thecompanyh “further strengthens its culture of compliance,” the release O’Neill will serve in his new position througjh the end of the the release said. In a filiny with the SEC, WellCarre said O’Neill’s amended employment agreement calls for him to continude to receive his current base salary of not lessthan $41,6677 a month. He also coul get a cash bonus of 50 percentr of his annual base salary if he achieves certainperformancre goals. If he staysw on the job through the end ofthe he’s in line for an additional cash bonus of at least the filing said.
Financial termz of Susanin’s new position were not immediatelh disclosed. Before joining WellCare, O’Neill was a partner at , general counsel for the , and an assistant U.S. attorney. Susanin previouslhy was counsel to and then a partne r in thelaw firm, and also an assistanrt U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia and the easterm districtof Pennsylvania.
