Lubavitch Education Center faces foreclosure - Washington Business Journal:

’s 84,020-square-foot, seven-story buildin on seven acres, along with two othere properties, is named in the $8 million foreclosurs lawsuit filed on June 23 bythe Birmingham, Ala-based bank in Miami-Dad e County Circuit Court. The nonprofit center is affiliates with theChabad Lubavitch, an orthodox Jewishy movement that has temples and education centere throughout the world. The foreclosurw names the nonprofit Friends of Lubavitch of Floridqa andthe for-profit 17330 NW 7 LLC. Rabbi Bentzion Korf, who is listede on the LubavitchEducation Center’s Web site as the director, managew both entities, which took an $8 milliohn loan from the bank in 2004.
Korf didn’ty immediately return a call seeking comment. The center was founded in 1973 as the first rabbinical college, or yeshiva, in the southeasternh U.S. Orthodox Jews from throughout South Florid send their children there forreligious education. In addition to the main which is located nearGolden Glades, the foreclosure targetws the 30,750-square-foot education center at 1114 Alto n Road in Miami Beach and a 3,363-square-foort apartment building at 1231 13th St. in Miami Miami-based attorney Elizabeth Dombovary, who represents Regions Bank inthe didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
