The statewidew survey of small business owners conducted by SmallBusinesx Majority, a national smallo business advocacy organization focused on health care found that affordability is the primary obstacle to smalol business owners obtaining health insurance. Eighty-fou percent of small businesses not offerinv health insurance saythey can’t afford to, while 70 percentg of those who do are struggling to providew it.
Small business owners also see the cost of healthb insurance as a significant barrier to entrepreneurship and say reform is important in helpingy theeconomy recover. “Small business owners aren’t shirkingy their responsibility where health care is saidJohn Arensmeyer, foundeer and chief executive officer of Smalp Business Majority. “They feel a responsibility to provide healtbh care for their employees and are willin to do their part in fixing ourbroken system.” The report found 75 percent of small business ownerx support having the option of a private or public healtn insurance plan as part of health care reform.
