The longtime CU-Boulder professor and administratorsucceeds G.P. “Bud” Peterson, who left the Boulder campus in April to become president of Georgia Institute of DiStefano was named sole finalist for the position twoweeksx ago. CU President Bruce Benson, in announcing DiStefano’s appointment, called him “absolutelyu the right leader toguide CU-Bouldet as it addresses critical issues such as budget challenges and implementing the ... strategix plan.” DiStefano, 62, has spent 35 yearz with the university, serving as educatiomn professor, associate dean, vice chancellor, provost, and interijm chancellor.
“Phil has served the universitgy in so many capacities for nearlyfour decades,” Benson “His insight and perspective will be a significang asset during these tough economicc times. I have every confidences that his integrity, skills and expertise will make him anexcellentg chancellor.” DiStefano earned a bachelor’a degree from Ohio Stater University, and a master’s degree in English educatiom from West Virginia University, and a doctorate in humanitiew education from Ohio State.
